pretty plimsolls

Those of you who have been reading this diary since the start of the year, will have already seen how I [customise my plimsolls], but I thought I'd show you the pair I've just finished today.

I started with a very inexpensive pair of white plimsolls, some peach ribbon and some peach ribbon roses. I decided where I wanted to put the roses (I only have the on the outer side of the shoe, I leave the inside plain), then stitched through the fabric and through the roses. After stitching them I use a few dabs of fabric glue, just to hold them extra securely.

Just for a bit of fun, I decided to lose the laces and thread ribbon through instead. *tip* to stop ribbon from fraying, singe the ends with the flame from a match. It melts the fibres. DO THIS VERY CAREFULLY! Just a hint of singe is needed. Take great care not to send the entire lot up in flames.
I wouldn't wear these if I was going for a long walk as the ribbon would slowly work its way undone, but they look pretty for around the house and garden, or for a trip to the supermarket. I love wearing plimsolls, especially in summer, and I like to make them look pretty and girly if I can. You can decorate them with anything, sew on badges, bows, diamante stick on sparkles. Why not have a go at customising something yourself?!
