When is a cushion not a cushion?

When it's used to display your brooch collection!
I've made four new union jack cushions since the weekend, this one I thought was perfect for displaying my brooches. Obviously I'm not using it in the traditional cushion way as it might be a bit uncomfortable (!!!) but I like having my brooches out where I can see them like this.
I thought I'd share this candle idea with you. At this time of year we have lots of violets in the garden. They are my favourite spring flower. I picked a small posy and brought inside. The downside is that violets fade quickly once inside.
I found a large church candle and decorated with ribbon (I attached the ribbon with warm wax, but you could easily push a pin into the candle to hold it in place. Either way the ribbon will have to be removed as the candle burns down) To finish off and add a spring touch, I took one of the flower heads and 'glued' it on with warm wax. To preserve the flower, I painted warm wax over the flowers. I did this on Sunday afternoon, and as I type this it still looks like a fresh flower head. As long as you - very carefully - coat the petals with the warm wax, the flower will be preserved. This would be pretty for the Easter table.
I had to show you my latest Cath aquisitions. Yet another mug ;o) and some gorgeous dusters. Can you believe I am looking forward to the polishing and dusting now? Seriously though, pretty dusters, how scrumptious.

A little one off giveaway is coming up soon. I've been making so many cushions that I really can't keep them all, so coming soon to Cotton Rose will be a cushion giveaway. I'm calling it my Easter Giveaway, but I will be doing it some time over the next week or so. I've made the cushion (a combination of green fabric with pink flowers, pink ribbon, gold fabric & thread, and LOTS of lace). I still have a tiny bit of handsewing to do to finish it off, so you'll just have to pop back to see if it's Easter Giveaway time.
