Home & Garden

I've not really done anything creative this week (well, apart from make 5 velvet roses, but I can't keep rattling on about making those!), so I thought I'd give you a little tour of my home and garden and show you some of my favourite things.

Out in the garden is where my most 'Shabby Chic' creation lives. The playhouse for my little girl. I love it, and so does my daughter. It's called Gingerbread House. We've just been changing over the curtains, from the heavy winter ones, to the fabulously floral Laura Ashley ones that I made a couple of years ago.

We have 5 sets of curtains, all of which I sewed by hand. Now I will make them on my sewing machine. I'm sure I'll be making new ones this year.

At the bottom of the garden we have two tiny fairy doors, set amongst the ivy. The smaller of the doors is higher up,which is why you can only see one in the photo. You can't tell from the photo, but there are stepping stones leading up to the doors. The white crocus we planted down the side of the stepping stones are looking so pretty. The clock is close to the fairy doors. In summer it is almost hidden by the plants growing around it. I am so glad we have a clock in the garden, means I never lose track of time completely.

A few photos of things I like inside my home. The fabulous light shade in the pink bedroom. I love that it's nothing more than rose after rose after rose. Something else I am loving is the massive silk rose I have 'growing' beside the bed. It's there because I have no idea where to put it yet. I keep trying it out in different places, but it always seems to end up back beside the bed.

Pots, jars, potions and lotions. Two items from my little stash of 'stuff' came from net friends. The picture & frame was from Dominique at '[Roses Poses]', and Sonia from '[Cozy Homemaking]' gave me the Laduree lip gloss. I've never in my life had a dressing table, but one day I will. One with beautiful venetian mirrors on top, and lots of fascinating little pots, boxes, jewellery and perfume. Not until my little girl is a lot older, but it's on my To Do list.

The layers of net in my gorgeous girls little ballet tutu. Oh how I would love a tutu of my own! Judging by the use them in the latest Cath Kidston catalogue, I don't think I'm the only one with a love of tutus!

Something that I am absolutely in love with right now, is my fabulous Rose Mouse Mat. I love it! You can order them from [Vintage Home]. A superb site, and excellent service. I can't praise Clare enough. Only visit this site if you have a big cup of tea beside you, and plenty of time in front of you. It's like stepping inside the most interesting little boutique and there is LOTS to look at.
