I love school hols at this time of year. The days pass by happily.
we've just had a little holiday. A sister of the husband owns a holiday cottage in the little village of [Walberswick]. I've written about it before, when we stayed there a couple of years ago.
I call it an Enid Blyton village. It's quiet, laid back, relaxed, and very pretty.
Braver souls than me. I just like to sit and look at the sea!
We holiday in this country so Dudley can come with us. He had a lovely time sniffing the sea air and exploring the garden. I love that he gets to go on holiday with us.
We may live in Suffolk already, but Walberswick is different enough from our busy town to feel like we're properly on holiday. It's also close enough that it's not stressful to travel with a cat and a child in the car.
One morning we went to [Dunwich]. A favourite place of mine. It is rumoured that hundreds of years ago, the original village was lost at sea, and you can hear the church bells from under the sea on a quiet day. Well, I've never heard them, but it's a nice story. And it is very beautiful there.
We've eaten out, relaxed, visited an amusement park.
Of course, being England in the summer the weather was unpredictable. As we ate in the beer garden of a local pub one evening, thunder rumbled and rain fell. We stayed outside though - eating in the rain isn't impossible, and we had a parasol opened over our table.
The weather has definitely cooled down. A couple of weeks ago it was disgustingly hot. Now it's much more pleasant, with showers and breezes sprinkled in between sunshine.
Seeing the fields harvested, and bales of hay waiting to be collected tells me summer is fading away. Autumn is waiting in the wings. I'm so looking forward to falling leaves and chilly days.
But summer isn't over just yet. We still have a few weeks left before school starts again, and we are enjoying every single minute.
I hope you are enjoying summer too.
