using up the leftovers

When I made the [garden chandelier], I had some blue sparkly droplets left over. I didn't want to waste them, so had to think of how to use them.

The chandelier in the dining room isn't a proper chandelier. It's just a shade, though a very nice one, with glass droplets rather than plastic ones. I am a huge fan of chandelier shades, they give a room a touch of elegance without the need of an electrician, or huge amount of money to buy them in the first place.

Ours has gone through a few changes over the years.

Covered in fake cobweb for Halloween...
... draped with baubles at Christmas ...
... or merely accessorised with pearls and some tulle bows. As you do!
I decided it was about time to remove the pearls and make it look pretty.
Today the sun is shining, showing that the glass droplets weren't just covered in dust, but were caked in Miss Haversham style cobwebs too. I could not show photos of it before having a good clean. I removed the glass droplets and washed in soapy water, then put them back and added the leftover blue sparkles. Not exactly difficult!

They look rather splendid in the sunshine.
An arty shot from underneath!
Looks sparkly and clean, and I'm really glad that I got to use the blue sparkles too - I don't like waste!
The blue works well in the dining room against the duck egg walls.
