a taste of Christmas

I love Christmas adverts. The John Lewis ad each year always, ALWAYS, makes me cry. This year is no exception. I just love that little snowman who goes shopping for his snowlady.

So it was with total joy that I stumbled upon him on Saturday at our local branch of John Lewis. (Ok, I know, they had them in all branches, but I'm choosing to believe that this one was the real one from the actual adverts, rather than a clone! )
Then, at the start of the week, the Coca-Cola lorry was in town. I knew The Girl would want to go and see it for herself. It wasn't snowing, I added that in PicMonkey!
The power of advertising!

I'm loving the festive decorations in town this year. Normally they're a bit of a mish mash of colours and styles, this year they've got their act together. It looks fab. When I saw photos of the tree I was a little disappointed. It's not exactly trad! However, seeing it for myself I changed my mind. It is beautiful. A good choice.
Feeling inspired and very festive, I've been making a start on bringing Christmas to the house. Outside is all done. Everything is in place. I have taken photos, but they're not very good. I'll take new ones over the weekend to show.

Let me show you what I've done so far.
The tree in the living room.
I've stuck to the 'dance of the sugarplum fairy' theme again.
The mantelpiece isn't finished. I've not put my pom-pom garland up yet,and I must add some flowers in mercury vases. It usually takes me a bit of time before I think it looks right, so it's bound to change a lot before I'm happy.
The wreath. Same idea as the one I made last year, but just a little different. I've used one branch from the tree, and the rest of the foliage is from the garden. Ivy, bay, rosemary. The flowers are silk because I want them to last.
Still quite a bit left to do, but I'm getting there.

How are your Christmas plans shaping up? Do you have your tree up yet?
