making a start

What a week.
Not only have we been celebrating the Diamond Jubilee this week, but my Gorgeous Girl turned 6 on Tuesday. Instead of watching yet more of Jubilee stuff on telly, I spent Tuesday afternoon with 16 excited children in a restaurant!

There have been a few extra birthday meals and shopping trips since then, but now it's all over for another year. The birthday cards are down, the Union Jack bunting put away.

Things are getting back to normal. So to celebrate, we've made a little start on the Craft Room.

The wallpaper has been ordered. I changed my mind about having the entire room papered, as I really love having plain white walls to use for the backdrop in photos. Just one wall will be papered. This also helps keeps costs down, no bad thing. The wallpaper should arrive next week.

In the meantime, the walls are being painted. And a new lampshade has been put up. I love this so much. The shape, the flowers, just adore it. Best of all, it didn't break the bank. This is the penny pinching way to get a 'chandelier' in a room, just buy the ones that are nothing more than a lampshade. Significantly cheaper, no electrician needed to install, and looks just as nice. Ok, maybe not as nice as the real thing, but not bad at all. It makes me happy. I'll show photos as the room changes.
I'm so excited about the Craft Room. It's going to be 'my' room, and I am delighted about that. A place where I can shut myself away and sew, create, make a mess and not worry about having to clear it up before The Girl is back from school, the Husband back from work. My sewing machine will have a permanent place to live, and I can start buying fabric knowing I have somewhere to store it.

So grateful and happy.
