searching for spring flowers

The fight that is Spring 'V' Winter continues. It's a real battle to see who will win.
The sun has been shining, but the most evil and bitter air has been swirling around. Lulled into a false sense of security by the bright sunshine on Wednesday, Gorgeous Girl and I went off to the park. We returned home frozen to the bone.

I issued a little challenge to myself: to find flowers in the garden to put into a vase.
Despite the garden looking lush and green, and the sight of lime green buds starting to wake up, finding flowers was a lot harder than I expected.

I was only able to find these. A few snowdrops, some miniature daffodils swiped from the plants the husband bought at the weekend and are still waiting to find a home(don't tell him), and one of the most spindly hyacinths I've ever seen in my life, oh, and a tulip!

There is forsythia in the front garden, but it looked messy and spoilt the effect of the delicate flowers.

So I've had to find flowers in other places instead...

In the current edition of 'Period Ideas'. This is an idea that I am absolutely going to steal this year. It's just perfect for making with roses, ivy, and peonies from the garden My cupcake stand is only a small one, but I think that would work beautifully well. I like that although it's quite a structured arrangement, it still has a casual feel about it.

My floral framed sunglasses, as modelled by my little Diva. And a new treasure, a very lovely Cath bag. Remember that I said I was going to treat myself to one this year? Here it is. My first ever Cath bag. It will not be my last. Cannot believe I've waited so long before taking the plunge and buying one.
I was going to order it in green, but my Little Lady told me to order the 'putty'. I did as I was told, and am so glad that I did. I adore this bag. It's cheery and pretty, and very practical. This abundance of floral goodness will sustain me until the garden can provide the flowers I crave!
