winter/spring flowers

January is a funny time of year. One minute it feels positively spring like, the next we're back in the depths of winter. It's not completely winter, not yet spring, just a muddley in-betweeny.

But I like it.
I like venturing outside and finding little spring snippets popping up here and there. I love having spring flowers in jam jars and vases around the house. I still enjoy that the days are cold, and the nights are colder. The sky is usually dappled with blue, grey, a streak of yellow, and most evenings, washed in pink. I'm always hopeful of a dollop more of snow, not the kind that brings the country to a standstill, just a bit to make a snowman with and enjoy for a few days.

Even though I'm hanging on to winter, I'm thinking ahead. I've got new shoes and a new bag, all ready for when spring really kicks in.

I read more when it's cold. Nothing is nicer that to curl up with a book and cup of tea, snuggle down and lose myself in another world for half an hour or so. This is what I'm making my way through at the moment, it's a superb read.

I like to get out in the cold weather too. Rain, sleet, or snow, I really don't mind.
Gorgeous Girl and I will get out of the house bright and early, and take a nice long walk to the shops, or into town.

Our walk yesterday ended up in Primark, where I gathered a glut of accessories. Honestly, I can spend a fortune in there these days. Whoever designs the accessories is doing a wonderful job. It's all very vintage in style, and very affordable. I'm most taken with the floral hairbands. I bought three, and have plans to buy a few more next week. I like to stock up on something when I like it. My litle Lady was quite taken by them too. Here she is modelling one 'hippy style'. And me modelling it in a more traditional style(ignore scruffily tied up hair). I love buying earrings in Primark. Because they are so inexpensive, I will happily remodel them slightly without fretting that I'm going to ruin them and waste money.

I bought three pairs in a pack for £1, just for the pair with roses on them. I wasn't overly keen on the style, so I got out my little bowl of tricks and altered them slightly. The end result is on the right. I would be reluctant to alter jewellery if I'd spent a small fortune on it in 'Accessorize', but when something cost only a pound or so in the first place, I really don't mind. And it's fun to alter things to suit your taste.

If you have a Primark near you, toodle off and take a peek at the accessories. I guarantee you'll find something you'll just adore.
